The serum amyloid S test kit is suitable for quantitative detection of antibody to serum amyloid A (SAA) in human serum/plasma/whole blood sample in vitro, which is mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of acute and chronic inflammation or viral infection. The test result should be analyzed in combination with other clinical information.

Description

SAA is an acute phase protein and inflammatory marker synthesized by hepatocytes. SAA concentration in blood will increase within a couple of hours upon occurrence of inflammation, and SAA concentration will experience 1000 times increase during acute inflammation. Therefore, SAA can be used as an indicator of microbial infection or various inflammations, which can facilitate diagnosis of inflammation and monitoring of therapeutic activities.

Benefits

  • Early detection of inflammation: The SAA test can detect inflammation in the body earlier than other tests such as the C-reactive protein (CRP) test, which makes it useful in monitoring chronic inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.

  • Monitoring treatment: The SAA test can be used to monitor the effectiveness of treatment for inflammatory conditions. A decrease in SAA levels indicates that the treatment is working, while an increase may indicate that the treatment needs to be adjusted.

  • Prognostic value: Elevated SAA levels have been associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, making the SAA test useful in predicting the risk of heart disease.

  • Differential diagnosis: The SAA test can help differentiate between infectious and non-infectious causes of fever. High SAA levels suggest a non-infectious cause, while low SAA levels suggest an infectious cause.
